Kingsville - Looking for the first win of its season, the Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team is headed to Colorado for the Southern Colorado Crossover, hosted by both the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs, and Colorado State - Pueblo, where the Javelinas will play six games in three days.
Splitting their games between Pueblo and Colorado Springs, the Javelinas will play twice each on Friday (VS CSU-P at 10:00 a.m., VS Adams St. at 12:30 p.m.), Saturday (VS UCCS at 10:00 a.m., VS CSU-P at 3:00 p.m.), and Sunday (VS Minnesota - Crookston at 10:00 a.m., VS Adams St. at 12:30 p.m.). All six of the games will be available for stream on the RMAC Network ($).
"This weekend we're excited to get our team back on the field and continue to work on putting all three phases together, hitting, pitching, and defense," Head Coach
Orlando Salinas said. "Last weekend we opened up our season in Dallas, we didn't have the outcomes that we wanted, but we did see a lot of good and positive steps to building a conference championship team. We either led or were tied in every game going into the fifth and sixth innings, we need to finish what we start."
Indeed, in three of the Javelinas' four losses at the Lone Star D2 College Classic in Dallas last weekend, the team was either leading the game or tied with their opponent in the middle of the sixth inning. TAMUK will focus on closing out games as it heads even farther north this weekend, with three games slated to be played in Pueblo, CO, and three in Colorado Springs, CO (hosted by CSU-Pueblo and UCCS respectively).Â
