Lake Charles, LA - The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas went 1-1 on the final day of the Cowgirl Beach Bash, defeating Sam Houston State 4-1 before falling to New Orleans 3-2, finishing the weekend 2-2 overall.

The Javelinas came out strong against the Bearkats. Kalani Vasquez and Laura Betsa got things going at Pair 2 with a dominant straight-set win, 21-13, 21-16, and Emma Daugherty and Kastyn Hoffman followed with an equally impressive sweep at Pair 3, 21-10, 21-13. Williams and Wozniak added another point at Pair 4, winning 21-14, 21-18, while Liana Huesca and Rylan Pollard gutted out a thrilling three-set battle at Pair 1, dropping the opener before rallying to win 21-19 and 16-14. Sam Houston's only point came at Pair 5.

The Javelinas couldn't quite close it out against the Privateers in the finale. Huesca and Pollard provided a bright spot at Pair 1, winning in straight sets 21-18, 21-16, and Presmanes and Briggs battled back to take Pair 5 in three sets, 21-17, 19-21, 15-12. But New Orleans took Pairs 2, 3, and 4 to secure the 3-2 victory and send TAMUK home 2-2 on the weekend.

The Javelinas are back in action next weekend, traveling to Belton, Texas for the UMHBeach Spring Break Bash where they will face Central Arkansas, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Sam Houston, and Tarleton State.
