Javelinas wrap up regular season against DBU

Dallas, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville wraps up the regular season against current top-seeded Dallas Baptist University on Saturday.

The Javelinas (13-14, 10-9 LSC) are coming off a defensive battle against UT-Tyler in which they dropped their fifth Thursday contest in a row, 55-59. That five-game Thursday-loss streak however has been coupled with a five-game Saturday win-steak as the Javelinas set their sights on the Patriots (23-6, 17-2 LSC) who have clinched at least a share in the LSC regular-season title.

Saturday's matchup could be a preview of the first round in the LSC championship tournament as the Javelinas and Patriots are slated to face off against one another at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Should the Hogs take down Dallas Baptist on Saturday, it could force a three-way tie for first place in the LSc between DBU, Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico.

To get win number 14 on the board, the Javelinas will need to respark their offense that struggled against UT-Tyler on Thursday. The 55 points scored by the Javelinas was the lowest they have scored since Dec. 11 against UTPB (50-47). The Javelinas were not able to convert on their shot attempts on Thursday leading to the low scoring output. Texas A&M-Kingsville shot just 33.8 percent, its lowest shooting percentage since. Jan. 29.

A bright spot for the Hogs' offense however has been the play of Bryce Smith. The junior from Baytown, Texas, has ramped up his scoring over the past three games averaging 14 points per game on 71.4 percent shooting from the floor. Smith has not just been an efficient scorer however, as he is averaging 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists over that span as well.

Tip-off for Saturday's contest is set for 2:00 pm. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaMBB on X.
