Zoey Yanez joins Kelsey Quinn in women’s basketball signing class

Kingsville - This week incoming wing player Zoey Yanez officially signed with the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team, joining Kelsey Quinn in the team's already stacked signing class.

Zoey Yanez - 5'10 - Wing - San Antonio, TX

A knockdown shooter from San Antonio, Yanez has officially signed with the Javelinas as her senior year with the McCollum Cowgirls (5A) wraps up. She averaged 15.8 ppg on her career while shooting an efficient 49% from the field. In Yanez's freshman season she put up a career high 18.4 ppg, while her points per game dropped her efficiency kept increasing year after year shooting 54% and just under 40% from three while averaging 14.6 ppg by her junior year.

Yanez is also a menace on the defensive side of the court, averaging just over two steals per game, and crashes the boards averaging 5.3 rebounds in her career. Prior to her senior year she was named to the San Antonio Sports All-Star Team and made the San Antonio Express-News All-Area Team after her junior year.

"We are excited to add Zoey and her family to our Javelina family," Head Coach Michael Madrid said. "Zoey is an extremely talented player that can score in a variety of ways. More importantly, she is an excellent student-athlete and an outstanding young lady. Her ceiling is very high."

Kelsey Quinn - 6'0 - Guard - Leander, TX

A great all-around athlete, Quinn is a lanky, hot-shooting guard/wing in her senior year playing for the Leander High School Lions (north of Austin, 5A). She topped 1000 career points scored in December of her senior season.

"We are thrilled to add Kelsey and her family to our Javelina family," Madrid said. "Kelsey is a long, athletic wing that can shoot the ball. You have to have quality shooters at the D2 level and Kelsey has the ability to stretch the defense. She is an outstanding young lady on and off the court. Excited to work with her and Zoey."

Quinn is a very talented player in the rising sport of flag football as well, playing WR/DB for the Texas Fury. She was picked by the Houston Texans to represent them in the 2026 NFL Flag Girls High School Showcase at the NFL's annual Pro Bowl Games earlier this month.
