Javelinas Bounce back with fifth set win over St. Mary's

San Antonio, TX – The Javelinas Bounce back with a win over the Rattlers

The Javelinas and the Rattlers put on an all-time classic match for the Lone Star Conference as Texas A&M – Kingsville takes the match in five sets. The fifth and final set ended with the Hogs on top 16-14. The Match could not have been any more even as the Javelinas and Rattlers put each other through a stress test. The Rattlers had three members collecting over 15 kills as Laurene Robinson added to her league leading amount. As the Javelinas had four members over 10 kills as Karli Krueger led the way with 17 on the ledger.

The Javelinas had a full team effort to achieve this victory. Head Coach Tanya Allen-Gonzalez stated "That was such an exciting match. It was great volleyball to be apart of…" The Redshirt Sophomore Karli Krueger had her career high in kills, attempts and hitting percentage as she stepped up and hit .343. She was joined by Alexiah Thompson who notched 16 kills on a .310 clip, and the Hogs needed them to be there as Cambelle Brammer only managed 12 kills as it was clear the Rattlers game plan was to contain her. Alayna Guerrero who was the Player of the Match was everywhere as she tied seventh in school history with 59 assists! Defensively she also had 16 digs which was second on the team behind Tayae-Renae Garcia. Two other Javelinas tied with 15 digs each being Kamryn Briggs and Monique Gonzalez.

This was truly a get right match for the Javelinas as the fell to St. Edward's the day before. They prevailed and showed that even when the punches start flying the Javelinas will not back down as coach stated, "I think our team showed how tough they are capable of playing." The Javelinas will be back at home next weekend as they welcome in Oklahoma Christian and Cameron.

Oklahoma Christian will be played at 6 PM on Friday as the Javelinas celebrate their Dig Pink night in support of all of those fighting against Breast Cancer. Then on Saturday Cameron University is in town to visit and will be at 2 PM.
