Kingsville - With a sweep of the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds, the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team finishes its first weekend of home Lone Star Conference matches a perfect 3-0 in LSC play.
The team was stellar behind the service line, collecting 10 aces, and had three different Javelinas post eight or more kills. Four different Hogs had multiple aces, led by senior OH
Kerigan Baumgartner, who had three, all of which came in a row in the third set, and added three kills, a block, and 14 digs.
It now holds both the best overall record and the best LSC record of any team in the Lone Star, as one of two in the conference that has played three matches. Through its three LSC matches, the Javelinas have lost just two total sets, both of them coming in the team's five-set upset of the No.10 West Texas A&M Buffs.
Though they hit just .184 as a team, Kingsville cranked up its defense, holding the Greyhounds to just .061, and totalling seven team blocks. Senior right side hitter/setter
Rylan Pollard and junior outside hitter
Rylie Barnett each posted nine kills, tied for the team lead, while senior RS
Kendall Harrington wasn't far behind with eight kills of her own. Junior libero
Monique Gonzalez's 12 digs mark the seventh straight match that she has collected double-digits in the back row, she added five assists and a pair or aces as well. Senior S

The Hogs stayed in control of the match from start to finish, and opened the third set on a 6-0 run before using their tough serving and defense to run away with the deciding set, creating a 20-7 lead.
Kingsville will now head on the road, with four of its next six matches set to be played in enemy territory, beginning next weekend with a Thursday 6:00 p.m. match against Sul Ross St. and a Saturday, 12:00 p.m. match against Western New Mexico.
