Javelina Family,
With the athletic year coming to a close, I am excited to share the June Edition of the Javelina Rundown with you all. Tuesday marked the official release of our Javelina Club webpage. Our hopes are that the extension will provide an easier avenue for Javelina Nation to support the Department and its athletic teams.
The last month also saw the outdoor track and field teams close out yet another historic season at NCAA Nationals in Pueblo, CO, where they produced 16 All-Americans, including Ronald Greuso Mosquera, who became an individual National Champion in the men's shot put as well as the National Runner up in the men's discus. Senior
Thomas Nieto also finished as a National Runner-Up, breaking the school record in the men's pole vault.
We are proud to announce that the Athletic Department finished back-to-back semesters with a cumulative grade point average above 3.00.

Team Updates:
Track and Field:
The Javelinas closed out their outdoor season in dominating fashion across a weekend of competition at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Nationals meet, producing an individual National Champion, two runner-up performances, a third-place relay finish, and an incredible sixth-place team finish on the men's side. The men's and women's teams combined to produce 16 All-Americans, including 10 First-Team All-Americans.
With just 10 athletes competing at the meet for the men's team, the squad took home its highest finish since placing in the same spot in 2019 - just one year after its National Title. Among a slew of amazing performances was senior
Ronald Grueso Mosquera, who had one of the best throwing weekends in Javelina history, bringing home a national title in the shot put and finishing as the National Runner-Up in the discus, and senior
Thomas Nieto, who smashed a record that had stood since before the turn of the century to bring home a National Runner-Up title in the men's pole vault. As if that wasn't enough history, the men's 4x400m relay team of
Sterling Riles,
Tony Benitez,
Michael Samihamba, and
Taylor Chaney broke their own school record in the event, finishing third place in the nation, while senior triple-jumper
Jazmin Ray broke her own school record as well, finishing sixth in the nation.
Football:
Javelina Football will kick off the
Scott Parr era on September 6th against Lincoln University at Javelina Stadium. It will be a new look for the Hogs in the 2025 season, as the football program welcomed in Louisiana Tech transfer
Jack Turner to be the next quarterback of the program. Turner, who has played under Coach Parr dating back to their days at Navarro Junior College, threw for 1,664 yards and eight touchdowns in his time with the Bulldogs including a 281-yard performance against North Carolina State during the 2024 season.
