Corpus Christi, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville heads just up the road to Corpus Christi for the Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday.
The Javelinas (16-8) are coming off a 2-2 tournament run at the Concordia Invitational, where the Javelinas took down both Vanguard University and Masters University but dropped matches against Cal State-Northridge and Concordia University Irvine.
Step up in competition:
Friday and Saturday's tournament will feature the most Division I programs that the Javelinas have faced off against in a tournament thus far this season. Texas A&M-Kingsville will face off against TAMUCC, Tarleton State, Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston. The Hogs do boast a winning record against all schools at the tournament, but dropped the last two matches to the Islanders and Lumberjacks.
Perfect Weekend on the Sand:
The duo of
Madelyn Wallace and
Kalani Vasquez are playing incredibly well as we head into the backend of the season. Playing in the two's flight, Wallace and Vasquez went a perfect 4-0 this weekend in Irvine. They now six with a 5-3 record over the previous two tournaments and look to keep the momentum going in Corpus.
Match one of the tournament kicks off at 8:00 am against host school Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Stay up to date with results of the tournament at JavelinaBeach on Twitter.
