Kingsville - With one week left until the Lone Star Conference Championships in Portales, NM, the Texas A&M - Kingsville women's and men's track and field teams are competing in two different meets this weekend, beginning with the Texas Invitational in Austin and ending in Houston at the Rice Twilight Meet.
The Javelinas are bringing 49 athletes to the Invite in Austin, the second meet hosted by UT- Austin that TAMUK has competed in this season. In addition to the Invite's host, the Javelinas will face off against 15 other teams, three of whom are top-25 ranked D1 teams.
Competition will stretch across Thursday and Friday, with field events starting at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and running events beginning at 6 p.m.. Friday will see the field events start at 9:30 a.m. with running events slated to start at 1:30 p.m..
This will be the first time that the full Javelina crew will compete at a meet since the 2025 Cactus Cup almost two weeks ago, with only a small squad of distance runners racing in California last weekend. Despite just six athletes competing from Kingsville, the crew broke three different school records, all of which came on the women's side.
The weekend will be capped off at Rice University where 22 Javelina athletes, some of whom will be competing in both Austin and Houston this weekend, will compete against 21 other teams in a field that will be, once again, stacked with D1 competition.
