The Javelinas are hungry for a win, with each of its three straight losses coming by just one run. They currently sit just three games out of a Lone Star Conference tournament spot with eight games remaining on their schedule. Their next four, their Wednesday doubleheader against UT-T, and their 1 p.m. Friday matchup with Texas Woman's, are their final games at home, with the team's four graduating seniors being honored in between the games of Friday's doubleheader.
TAMUK gave No.19 Oklahoma Christian a run for its money on Sunday, taking a late lead in game one and tying up the ballgame in the sixth inning of game two, but falling just one run short in each matchup. It will now face off against a team that the Javelinas battled close in their first matchup. When Kingsville and Tyler first fought, the Patriots were ranked No.1 in the nation, and squeaked by the Javelinas, 2-0 and 3-1, in the doubleheader.
The Patriots suffered their fourth loss of the season on Sunday when they dropped the front end of a doubleheader with St. Mary's, 5-3. Before that, the defending National Champions had won six games in a row. While the team is stellar all around, it leans on its pitching, which has been excellent all year. Their staff has given opposing batters fits all season, leading the LSC in ERA, oAVG, and hits.
