Kingsville - After a pair of losses to No.5 West Texas A&M on Friday night, the Texas A&M - Kingsville softball team will look to get back on track with a home doubleheader against Midwestern St. set to begin at noon on Sunday.

The Javelinas played a pair of good games against the Lady Buffs, including a nail-biting one-run game in the night cap, but fell to 13-12 and 8-6 in Lone Star Conference play. 

The team will now have two games to get back in the win column before four road games next weekend including a trip to No.1 UT-Tyler. Following that, the Javelinas will be back at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field for eight straight home games. 

The Javelinas will look to get their electric offense back into a groove after struggling on Friday. Even after that doubleheader, the team still has the third-most total bases and the fourth-best on-base percentage this season. Graduate student outfielder Lindsey Evans' .514 batting average leads the LSC, as it has for much of the season so far. TAMUK's pitching has come along as well, led by a pair of freshman. Arianna Alaniz ranks third in the conference with 83 strikeouts on the season and boasts a 2.45 ERA. Esther Martinez has been on a tear as well, allowing just two earned runs across her last 15.2 innings pitched. 

Midwestern is 6-17 overall and 3-11 in LSC play. The team brings a four-game losing streak, including two to No.1 UTT, into Sunday's matchup.

Sophomore outfielder Sydney Linn leads the team offensively, hitting .433 on the season, and holding a .493 on base percentage. Not far behind is senior Camile Nunez, who has hit .329 on the year and brings a .586 slugging number into the doubleheader. 

Between Sunday's doubleheader, Kingsville will be hosting the Hoggie-Thon Tailgate in support of Driscoll Children's Hospital.
