Belton, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville brushed off their competition on day one of the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor on Friday.
The Javelinas (9-2) finished a perfect 3-0 on the first day of the tournament, Taking down East Texas Baptist University, Southwest Baptist University and the host school UMHB. Texas A&M-Kingsville was simply dominant today, winning its matches with a combined set score of 13-2.
Match one vs ETBU (5-0):
Match one for the Javelinas kicked off the UMHB Spring Splash tournament, and the Javelinas put on a show in the morning.
Kalani Vasquez and
Madelyn Wallace got the party started for the Javelinas, dominating their match 21-9 and 21-6.
Meghan Stiefer and
Emma Daugherty got in on the fun as well, winning their match 21-10 and 21-16.
Moving over to the second flight, the Javelinas continued their dominance.
Rylan Pollard and
Liana Huesca took down the Tigers 21-15 and 21-9. Not to be outdone,
Elizabeth Williams and Clara Premanes-Garate completely shut down the Tigers in the five's duel, winning 21-6 and 21-11.
Taylor McCarthy and
Laura Betsa closed out the sweep for the Javelinas, winning 21-12 and 21-17.
Match two vs SBU (4-1):
In the second match of the day, the Javelinas picked up right where they left off. Flight one was a clean 2-0 for the Javelinas, as Stiefer and Daugherty won their match 21-15 and 21-12 plus Wallace and Vasquez won in two 21-9 sets.
Flight two would secure the Javelinas the win, as McCarthy and Betsa would win the three's duels 21-12 and 21-16. Pollard and Huesca would secure the  fourth point for the Javelinas, winning a 21-15 and a 21-13 match as well.
Match three vs UHMB (4-1):
Looking to get a sweep in day one, the Javelinas opened up the first flight against the Crusaders winning both matches, getting a 21-17 and 21-18 win from Stiefer and Daugherty and a 21-10, 21-11 victory from Wallace and Vasquez.
In flight two, the Javelinas were able to take care of business. Pollard and Huesca got themselves a 21-19 and a 21-16 win to get the Javelinas to set points. Then, McCarthy and Betsa got a 21-14 and a 22-20 victory over the Crusaders to secure a 3-0 day.
The Javelinas have one match tomorrow against Hendrix College at 8:00 a.m.Â
