Belton, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville hits the road for the first time this season as it heads up to the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor for the UHMB Spring Splash.
The Javelinas (6-2) are coming off of their final home tournament of the season in which they finished 2-2. Texas A&M-Kingsville dropped two close, hard fought matches to Colorado-Mesa and Division I UTEP on day one. They bounced back on day two, taking down D1 foe Tarleton State and Wayland Baptist.
Previewing the Competition:
At the UMHB Spring Splash, the Javelinas will take on East Texas Baptist University, Southern Baptist University, Hendrix College and the host school UMHB. Texas A&M-Kingsville boasts a combined record of 8-1 against the field, with the lone loss coming against UMHB in 2024. This tournament will also be the first time the Javelinas have faced off against Hendrix College.
Dominance on the Sand:
Meghan Stiefer and
Emma Daugherty have been excellent for the Javelinas to start the season. The duo posted a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Javelina Beach Showdown, only dropping two sets the entire tournament. For the season, Stiefer and Daughtery are a spotless 8-0 with a 16-3 set score.
Rebound Performances:
Texas A&M-Kingsville hopes that the UMHB Spring Splash will serve as a nice rebound for the one's,
Rylan Pollard and
Liana Huesca. The duo finished the Javelina Beach Showdown with a 1-3 match record, however the matches against CMU and UTEP came down to the third set. However, Pollard and Huesca did get some positive momentum heading into this week, taking down Wayland Baptist in a dominant 21-13, 21-13 match.
