Kingsville - As the spring semester rolls on, Texas A&M-Kingsville athletics will provide weekly updates of our Javelinas as they continue with their 2025 seasons.
Weekly updates will be provided every Monday and will highlight the happening of Javelina athletics on the road or right here in Kingsville.
Track and Field: Wrapping up their indoor seasons at the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships, 16 Javelinas produced 10 All-American performances. Five individuals, junior
Madison Ramos and seniors Katryna Hernadez, and
Cynai Christopher on the women's side and seniors
Thomas Nieto and
Ronald Grueso Mosquera on the men's side, came home from Indianapolis as first-team All-Americans, while three, graduate students
Madison Alegria and
Jazmin Ray on the women's side and junior
Django Segovia on the men's put on second-team All-American performances. Ramos' 1.75m-clearing jump in the women's high jump is a new school record.Â

Vitiana Robert and freshmen
Sakara Wade and
Oneika Brissett placed sixth in the women's 4x400m relay, coming home first-team All Americans, while the record-setting men's 4x400m relay crew of senior
Sterling Riles and juniors
Taylor Chaney,
Cody Fountain, and
Tony Benitez earned a spot on the All-American Second team. In addition to her All-American plaque, Robert also brought home the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.Â
Stunt: In its first ever regular season home game, the TAMUK STUNT team beat St. Edward's 11-6 to earn its fourth win of the year and close out its first ever season of existence in the Lone Star Conference's fourth seed. The Javelinas will compete in the LSC's Championship tournament in two weeks, which will be hosted by the conference's top seed, Dallas Baptist, where they will take on St. Edward's once again, this time with a matchup against DBU in the tournament's second round on the line.
Kingsville will make its STUNT postseason debut against St. Ed's at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28th.
Softball: The Javelinas went on the road for a pair of doubleheaders, splitting with Texas Woman's before falling to No.1 UT-Tyler in a pair of close games. All four matchups were defensive, with TAMUK scoring six total runs across the weekend. As such, Kingsville's pitching staff showed out, with a pair of freshmen, right hander
Arianna Alaniz and left hander
Esther Martinez, each starting in two games. Alaniz started game one of each series, throwing a complete game (7 IP) shutout against TWU and allowing just seven hits and one earned run combined across the two games. Martinez started in game two both days, allowing eight hits and five earned runs (1 ER vs UTT) Â across the 12 innings she pitched.Â
The team now returns to Kingsville for eight straight home games, beginning with a Friday doubleheader against St. Edward's, with first pitch set for 4 p.m..
Baseball: Texas A&M-Kingsville returned to Nolan Ryan Field for a four-game weekend series against St. Mary's University this past week. The Javelinas and Rattlers would split the series between each other, with the Hogs taking the first two games while St. Mary's secured the final two games of the series.
Karson Shepherd and
Ulises Quiroga picked up wins with a pair of 5-1 victories on Friday and Saturday, however the Javelinas would fall in the final two games of the series 6-3 and 11-2.
Coming into the series, the Javelinas and Rattlers were neck-and-neck in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South-Central region rankings. St. Mary's and Texas A&M-Kingsville were ranked eighth and ninth respectively, with this week's rankings being released today.
Beach Volleyball: The Javelinas headed east into the Piney Woods for the Axe'em Invitational, hosted by Stephen F. Austin, finishing with a 3-1 record in their two days of competition. Texas A&M-Kingsville took down Mary-Hardin Baylor for the third time this season while also getting wins against a pair of Division I teams in McNeese and Sam Houston. Heading into the final match against host school SFA, the Javelinas had won nine duels in a row, three of which came against Division I opponents. It would not be enough however, as the Lumberjacks got the win against the Javelinas in a 1-4 victory.
