The Javelinas enter Friday's matchup 15-12 overall with a 10-6 record in Lone Star Conference Play. They are coming off of a pair of wins over Midwestern St. on Sunday and, currently sitting tied for fourth place in the conference, are looking to improve their standing against the 12-8 (8-8) Pioneers. TWU started LSC play red hot, including two different split series against ranked opponents, taking down (at the time) No.5 Angelo St. and No.23 Lubbock Christian. The team has struggled as of late, however, losing six of its last eight games heading into Friday's contests. It's offense has been part of the problem, as the team has totalled just one run across its last three losses.

The Pioneers' pitching staff, however, has been pretty strong. They've given up the third-fewest hits and walks in the conference as well as the fifth-fewest earned runs. Behind the team's senior ace, Gonzalez, multiple other pitchers have rotated, with three other Pioneers posting at least six appearances and two with at least four starts on the season.

TAMUK Notes:
Graduate student outfielder Lindsey Evans enters the weekend hitting .494, the third-best mark in the LSC
Freshman third baseman Alexis Soliz is also hitting above .400 - she's at .417 entering the weekend
Freshman right hander Arianna Alaniz's 93 strikeouts are the most in the LSC and the seventh-most in the NCAA this year
Alaniz has already won multiple LSC Pitcher of the Week awards in her young career, having thrown a five-inning no-hitter against No.22 Lubbock Christian - she has already posted three games this season with double digit strikeouts
Kingsville has three players, Laney Doelitsch, Dakota Martinez, and Evans, with at least four homers on the season
Graduate student outfielder AJ Jasso, who is hitting .372 on the year, leads the team in RBIs with 23 - the team has five different players with at least 17
