Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville battled until the very end, but ultimately fell to Texas A&M-International 70-75 in its season finale on Thursday.
The Javelinas (11-17, 7-15 LSC) got the game within three points multiple times late at the Steinke Physical Education Center, but could not overcome the Dust Devils (13-18, 8-14 LSC) as they turn the page on the 2024-25 season.
Shooting from beyond the arc would ultimate do the Javelinas in, as the Dust Devils would nail 14 3-pointers. The Javelinas were able to uncork their shooting late in the game, as
Zyon Little and
Bryson Goldsmith each hit late 3-pointers to keep the Javelinas in striking distance, but every time they did, the Dust Devils answered right back.
Before the late game situation, the Javelinas were able to get themselves a small lead thanks to another 3-pointer from Little. A fast break 3-pointer from
James Livingston retook the lead with 5:48 left in the game, but the Dust Devils took the lead right back and eventually closed that game out.
Allen Singleton finished with a team-high 18 points, Little added 16 and Goldsmith finished in double figures with 11. Little also led the team with seven rebounds while Singleton had a team-best three assists.
David Oriaku had an efficient game, with two put-back-dunks and two blocks to close out his season.
