Javelinas stay home for Javelina Beach Showdown

Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville hosts their second straight home tournament this weekend in the Javelina Beach Showdown at the Javelina Beach Courts.

The Javelinas (4-0) are coming off a good showing at their first tournament of the season, when they swept through the competition at the Javelina Beach Classic. Texas A&M-Kingsville took down University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Wayland Baptist, Texas Wesleyan and Division I foe Tarleton State.

Now, the Hogs will look to continue their winning ways against a combination of familiar foes and new competition. Friday's slate features matchups against Colorado-Mesa at 8:00 a.m. and UTEP at 4:00 p.m. Saturday's games will begin at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. against Wayland Baptist and Tarleton State respectively.

Chasing History:
Senior Madelyn Wallace is chasing down a major historical mark for Javelina Beach Volleyball. Currently sitting with 55 career wins, the senior from La Vernia, Texas, needs just 19 more wins to tie Rylie Anderson for second most wins all-time in program history.

Ramping up Competition:
This tournament, the Javelinas will face two Division I teams in Tarleton State and the University of Texas-El Paso. They also face off against fellow Division II team in the University of Colorado-Mesa.

The Javelina Beach Showdown will mark the first time that the TAMUK and UTEP have faced off against each other. The Javelinas also hold a 4-0 record over Tarleton, but are just 3-7 against Colorado-Mesa.

Senior Celebration:
Texas A&M-Kingsville will be celebrating three seniors in between the Wayland Baptist and Tarleton State matches. Seniors Delaney Evans, Taylor McCarthy and the aforementioned Wallace will all be honored on Saturday.

The Javelina Beach Showdown kicks off at 8:00 a.m. as the Javelinas take on Colorado-Mesa at the Javelina Beach Courts.
