Javelinas set for season finale against Dust Devils

Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville concludes the 2024-25 regular season against Texas A&M-International Thursday at the Steinke Physical Education Center.

The Javelinas (11-16, 7-14 LSC) are looking to end their season on a high note against the Dust Devils (12-18, 7-14 LSC) at home. Last time these two teams played, TAMUI got the better of the Javelinas, holding them to just 50 points in Laredo.

Since that game however, the Javelina offense has been fantastic scoring 70 points in all but seven games this season. Texas A&M-Kingsville also scored 80-plus points as a team three times this season, although each game would result in a loss for the Javelinas.

Thursday's matchup is set up to be another defensive struggle, as the Dust Devils currently sit with the fifth best scoring defense in the conference allowing 68.9 points per game. A vast majority of Texas A&M-Internationals games have been low scoring, as it currently ranks near the bottom of the conference in points per game averaging just 66 points per game.

While the Javelina offense has been solid all season, the defense has been a key component of that success. That Javelinas will likely finish in the top half of the league in forced turnovers and turnover ratio, currently sitting with a 1.96 turnover ratio for this season.
