Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville swept through its competition and finished the Javelina Beach Classic a perfect 4-0 over the weekend.
The Javelinas (4-0) kicked off their tournament with a 2-0 Friday against University of Mark Hardin Baylor and Wayland Baptist University. They then wrapped up their tournament on Saturday with another 2-0 day against Texas Wesleyan University and Tarleton State.
The tournament started a bit slow for the Javelinas, as they beat UMHB by just a single match with a final score of 3-2.
Madelyn Wallace and
Kalani Vasquez would be pushed to three sets by the Crusaders, but they would eventually pull it out and help the Javelinas secure the win in the first dual.
For the final game on day one, the Javelinas took care of business with a clean 5-0 sweep over Wayland Baptist.
Rylan Pollard and
Liana Huesca were especially great serving as the one's in the match, as they paved the way for the Javelinas to finish day one with a spotless record.
Turning over to day two, the Javelinas continued to dominate their opponents earning a 5-0 sweep over Texas Wesleyan.
Emma Daugherty and
Meghan Stiefer were the highlights of the dual, as the duo crushed their opponents with a combined set score of 42-13 as Texas A&M-Kingsville only dropped a single set to improve to 3-0.
Heading into the final match against Tarleton State, the Javelinas and Texas were knotted up at one match apiece heading into the final three matches of the tournament. The Javelinas would prevail however, as they took down the Texans 6-0 in set scores to finish the tournament unblemished.
Texas A&M-Kingsville returns home next week for the Javelina Beach Showdown. The Javelinas kick off their tournament against Colorado-Mesa Friday at 2:00 p.m.
