Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns home after a four-game road trip to take on Midwestern State Thursday at the Steinke Physical Education Center.
Thursday's contest will serve as the Javelinas' (11-14, 7-12 Lone Star Conference) throwback game, where the team will be wearing its Texas A&I uniforms. Facing off against the Javelinas is a Mustang (19-5, 14-4 LSC) team that has been surging as of late, winning their last five games and their last three road games.
Offensively, the Mustangs are one of the most dangerous teams in the conference. They are currently second in the conference and sixth in Division II in three-point shooting and are fourth in the conference in effective field goal percentage.
The Hogs will need to key on to Mason Gibson defensively to slow down the Mustang offense. Gibson is the third leading scorer in the LSC at 17 points per game and has scored in double figures 21 of 23 games this season. He has also scored 20-or-more points eight times this season.
Not to be outdone,
Isaiah Payne has been equally as impressive for the Javelinas this season. The Graduate Student from Ville Platte, Louisiana, is tenth in the conference in scoring with just under 15 points per game. Payne has had some offensive masterclasses this season, scoring 20-plus points eight times this season.
Tip-off for throwback night is set for 7:30 p.m. CST with the game being streamed on FloCollege. Fans of the Javelinas can follow live coverage at JavelinaMBB on Twitter.
