Tyler, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville begins the final road trip of the season in Tyler to take on UT-Tyler on Thursday.
The Javelinas (10-13, 6-11 Lone Star Conference) are coming off a split weekend in the front half of four-straight road games. Texas A&M-Kingsville fell against Oklahoma Christian, but bounced back in a wild victory over Cameron. Now with just five games remaining on the schedule, the Javelinas are looking to get a much-needed victory against the Patriots (8-15, 5-13).
In their last matchup, Texas A&M-Kingsville dominated from start to finish earning a 72-58 victory. It was a team effort, with freshman
James Livingston finishing with a team-high 12 points.
Daniel Sanchez and
Jake Arnold both finished in double figures as well.
UT-Tyler is not without some playmakers however, as it has two players scoring above 13 points per game. Dontrell Hewlett and Mareng Gatkouth average 15 and 13.7 points per game respectively and each shoot over 40 percent from the floor. Gatkuoth has also been dynamic from beyond the arc, shooting 42.5 percent from three.
Last week however was a special week for the Javelina guard rotation. Graduate Student
Isaiah Payne scored his 1,000th career point against Cameron and finished with his seventh 20-point game of the season.
Allen Singleton added a team-high and career-best 23 points as the Javelinas took the win against Cameron. It was the first time in their careers that the duo each scored 20-plus points.
