Edinburg - The Texas A&M - Kingsville women's tennis team opened its season on the road in an exhibition match against UT - Rio Grande Valley, where they fell 6-1.
Freshman
Annalena Noll grabbed Kingsville's lone win, taking down UTRGV's Madeleine Joffe 6-3, 6-4. Junior
Annika Andersson Gomez took her opponent to three sets, before falling in a tight one 2-6, 6-1 (4-6).
"Our ladies fought hard and played well today," Head Coach
Autumn Wollenzien said. "Although the outcome wasn't what we wanted, we came away with a lot of positives. I expect us to get better with each match we play."
The Javelinas have one more exhibition to play before they begin their regular season, for which they'll make the short trip to Corpus Christi to play Texas A&M - CC, before starting their season in earnest on Saturday against Northeastern in San Angelo.
