San Antonio, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville travels back to the River City for non-conference action against No. 13 St. Mary's University Saturday from Bill Greehey Arena.
The Javelinas (5-5, 2-1 LSC) are coming off a tough showing at the River City Holiday Classic earlier this week in which they dropped both games of the tournament to University of Missouri - St. Louis and Rogers State. Now Texas A&M-Kingsville takes on a Rattler (8-2, 2-1 LSC) team that has faced some setbacks as well, going 1-2 in their last three games.
All eyes will be on senior guard Damani Claxton for the Rattlers, as the preseason player-of-the-year will look to make his mark on the contest against the Javelinas. Claxton is averaging 15 points per game this season, however the native of the Bronx, New York, has scored 20-or-more points in three different contests this season.
Meanwhile for the Hogs, a balanced effort continues to be the identity offensively. Five different Javelinas are scoring eight-or-more points with
TJ Ford Jr. leading the way with an even 10 points per game.
Allen Singleton has a nice showing at the River City Holiday Classic as well, scoring 22 total points across two games at the tournament.
The defense will need to show out in order for the Javelinas to earn the win however, as St. Mary's averages just over 75 points per game while scoring over 70 in three of its last five games. The Hogs' defense has been playing strong over the past three weeks, allowing under 65 points three times in the last four games.
Tip-off for Saturday's contest is set for 3:00 from Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game live on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaMBB on X.
