Javelinas thump Amabassadors, cross the 100-point mark in Kingsville

Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville bounced back in a big way before the Thanksgiving break, dismantling the College of Biblical Studies 100-63 Tuesday at the Steinke Physical Education Center.

The Javelinas (3-2) crossed the century mark for the first time since the 2022-23 season, when they scored 102 points against Puerto Rico-Bayamon. It was the most points scored for the Javelinas since the 2019-2020 season, when the Javelinas scored 96 points against Texas A&M-International.

A 46-point first half for the Javelinas spearheaded the blowout victory against the Ambassadors (2-7). The Javelians forced 14 turnovers and only allowed the Ambassadors to shoot 37.5 percent from the field while scoring on four three-point attempts and 17 points off turnovers.

The second half was where the show really started for the Javelinas, as 14 fast-break points opened up the floodgates for the Javelina offense. Brynce Smith and David Oriaku got the party started with a full-court dime that Oriaku flushed on a defender. TJ Ford Jr. would connect with Caleb Carr next on a much-less flashy but still effective dump-off that Carr finished. The show was capped off with a James Livingston to Jamir Turner slam on the break that put a bow on the second half.

The second half featured some firsts for some of the Javelina players, KJ Manuel scored his first points of his Javelina career going for seven points. Smith set a new career-best across his collegiate career with eight assists, while the team scored the most field goals of any team in the conference through the early goings of the season.

Carr led the way for the Javelinas with a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds, Allen Singleton contributed 13 points while Ford and Smith both finished in double figures as well (11 and 10). Three Javelinas would finish with three steals in Singleton, Smith and Jadon Sautter.

The Javelinas remain at home after the Thanksgiving break to take on reigning Lone Star Conference champion Dallas Baptist University. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaMBB on X.
