Volleyball falls to UT-PB in regular season finale

Odessa - The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team fell in a tight, four-set match to the UT-Permian Basin Falcons, locking the Javelinas into the eighth seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

Each set came down to the wire, with just 12 total points (average of three per set) deciding the entire match. The Falcons came from behind to win the initial set before Kingsville battled back to take the second. Though the Javelinas fought tooth and nail in both the third and fourth sets, the Falcons pulled away late in each to secure a senior day win. Thought the Hogs, as a team, put up more digs, assists, and kills than their hosts, the Falcons had more blocks and aces, and posted a higher team attack percentage.

TAMUK will finish in the eighth spot in the LSC standings, returning the team to the postseason for the first time since 2023, where the team will have a rematch with the Rambelles on Thursday in San Angelo. The Javelinas fell just short of upsetting the Belles in their home gym when the two squads met in their regular season matchup just last night.

Senior rightside hitter/setter Rylan Pollard closed out her regular season career with the Hogs by posting yet another triple double, adding to her lead on any other player in the nation. Her 10 kills, 22 assists, and 13 digs were enough for the 11th of her season, second in a row, and third in her last four matches. She was joined in double figures in the kills department by junior outsider hitter Rylie Barnett, who had 13, and in the digs column by four other Javelinas. Among them was sophomore libero Tayae-Renae Garcia, whose 18 digs paced the team, as well as junior defensive specialist Monique Gonzalez, who had 14.

TAMUK finishes its regular season with an 18-9 overall record and a 10-7 record in LSC play, and will wait for official game times to be announced for its first round matchup in San Angelo.
