Rapid City, SD - Texas A&M-Kingsville hits the road for the first time this season as it takes on South Dakota Mines in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.
The Javelinas get their first taste of road action to take on the Hardrockers, who are kicking off their 2025-26 season in the King Center. This matchup will be the fifth year in a row that the Javelinas and Hardrockers faced off against each other, with the previous matchup happening in Kingsville.
Last time the two teams faced off against each other, it was the Javelinas who got the better of the Hardrockers. Texas A&M-Kingsville allowed just 31 points, the fewest allowed in a single game since 1947. The Javelinas allowed just 10 points in the second half and forced South Dakota Mines to shoot just 13.9 percent from the floor.
It will be a brand new team for the Hardrockers this year however under first-year head coach Michael Iseman. Iseman comes to South Dakota Mines after spending last season at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he helped lead the team to a Great Lakes Valley Conference championship, the team's first NCAA Tournament bid in nearly 30 years and its highest NCAA DII ranking in program history.
Texas A&M-Kingsville opened up its 2025-26 season in exhibition against North American University, where it won 74-44 over the Stallions. The defense for the Hogs dominated in the second half, securing 11 turnovers and outrebounding the Stallions by 15. Texas A&M-Kingsvilles allowed just five made baskets in the second half, one of which was the only three-pointer that North American made all game.
