Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville looks to bounce back from last week's road trip as they take on Cameron University Thursday at the Steinke Physical Education Center.
The Javelinas (6-7, 2-5 LSC) could not get in the win column against either St. Mary's or St. Edward's last week in back-to-back road games. Now after not playing in the comfort of their home since Dec. 18, the Javelinas will play in front of their home crowd against the Aggies (4-9, 1-6 LSC).
Home court has been very beneficial for Texas A&M-Kingsville, as it posts a 4-1 record at the SPEC, this includes a win over then-ranked No. 2 West Texas A&M on Dec. 15. A testament to this home record has been the defense of the Javelinas, giving up just 65.2 points per game at home this season.
A big contributor to this defensive success has been the play of
Nate Lacewell. The transfer from Morehouse College currently leads the Javelinas with seven total blocks and is second on the team with 3.9 rebounds per game. Lacewell will have an important task Thursday taking on Cameron's Jaxon Ingram, who leads the conference with 10.2 rebounds per game while averaging 10.9 points per game.
Joining Lacewell in the front court is true freshman
David Oriaku. In his limited role this season, Oriaku has been a splash play machine. Already second on the team with six blocks while also adding two steals in limited minutes.
Tip-off for Thursday's contest is set for 7:30 p.m. CST with the game being streamed on Flosports. Fans of the Javelinas can follow live coverage through live stats or at JavelinaMBB on Twitter.
