Javelinas primed to host No. 16 Dallas Baptist

Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville is primed for a marquee matchup at the Steinke Physical Education Center as it takes on No. 16 Dallas Baptist University on Thursday.

It will be the second time the Javelinas (7-8, 3-6 Lone Star Conference) host a nationally ranked opponent this season, with the previous time coming against then-ranked No. 2 West Texas A&M. Now, they will get an opportunity to take on another ranked opponent in the Patriots (15-3, 7-2 LSC).

Offensively, the Patriots are as good as it gets in the conference. Averaging 84.8 points per game, Dallas Baptist's offense will be a good test for the Javelina's defense. Much of this offense starts from their defense, as DBU sits atop the conference in turnover margin and steals.

On the other side of the ball, the offense for Texas A&M-Kingsville has been on an absolute tear as of late. The Javelinas have scored at least 70 points in their last five games for the first time since the 2020-21 season, they are also shooting 45.2 percent from the floor in this stretch of game.

Leading the way for the offensive resurgence has been the play of Allen Singleton, who had two of the best games of his career last week. The junior from League City finished the week averaging 19 points, four rebounds and 5.5 assists to go with four steals. Singleton also set new career-highs in assists against Cameron (1/9) with seven and points against Oklahoma Christian (1/11) with 20.

Contributing to the offensive effort as well is true freshman James Livingston. The guard from San Antonio has been a massive boost of energy for the Javelinas off the bench, averaging 4.4 points per game with two double-digit scoring efforts this season.

Tip-off for Thursday's contest is set for 7:30 p.m. CST with the game being streamed on Flosports. Fans of the Javelinas can follow live coverage of the game through live state or at JavelinaMBB on Twitter.
