Javelinas drop both to Oklahoma Christian in Doubleheader matchup

TAMUK falls to Eagles in both matchups on day

EDMOND, Oklahoma — Texas A&M-Kingsville Softball Team would travel to Edmond, Oklahoma the home of the Oklahoma Christian Eagles where they would drop both matchups in a double header facing the eagles.
Game 1

The game would get started with a Seleste Compian walk followed by a stolen base and a Kayla Gonzales hit by pitch to put runners on first and second with one out. Aaliyah Ortiz would walk loading the bases before a fly out and a pop out would end the inning leaving three on.

The bottom of the first would see a two out double but not much else as the Eagles would go down quickly heading to the second.

The top part of the second would see the Javelinas go three up, three down sending it to the bottom quickly still a scoreless game.

The bottom half would start out with a hit by pitch, followed by a one out single to right and a single to center scoring the first run of the game. They would follow up with a single to left scoring another Eagles on top 2-0.

Not much happening in the 3rd for either squad as the top half would see Gonzales get on via hit by pitch, and the Eagles go down in order sending things to the fourth.

Much of the same for the fourth as the Javelinas would go down in order and a one out single would be the only offense for the Eagles as things moved right along to the 5th.

Compian would be the only offense for the Javelinas in the fifth getting on via two out walk, while the Eagles would only see a two out single to left moving the game along quickly Eagles still on top 2-0.

Lindsey Evans would get the Javelinas on the board with a solo shot to put the score at 2-1 heading into the bottom of the 6th.

A one out single to left center would be the only offense for the Eagles in the bottom half as things would move along into the final frame 2-1 Eagles on top.

Sammie Saenz would pinch hit for Compian with two out in the top of the 7th and single down the left fiend line trying to start a two out rally, but a pop out would end the first game 2-1 in favor of the Eagles.

Game 2

The Javelinas would start out the second game going down in order to make it a quick top of the first.

A leadoff triple down the right field line would set up the Eagles for a single to center that would score a run early sending things to the second already 1-0.

Aaliyah Ortiz would start off the top of the second with a leadoff walk followed by a Lindsey Evans double to left center scoring pinch runner Alexis Ramirez to tie things up at one apiece before sending things into the bottom of the second.

A single and an error would put a runner on second for the Eagles with one out in the inning before a walk would put another on putting runners at first and second with one out. A flyout to left would advance the runners up a bag and an error would result in Oklahoma Christian scoring an unearned run sending things into the third inning Eagles lead 2-1.

The third would see limited offensive production for both sides as the Javelinas would go down in order and the Eagles would only see a bunt single before pushing things right along into the fourth.

The top of the fourth inning would see Ortiz add to her already incredible season with a single up the middle, followed by an Evans walk to put runner on first and second with one out in the inning. Kaylynne Ruiz would single to try and keep the rally going but Evans would be gunned down from center trying to take third and no run would come across sending things to the bottom half Javelinas still trailing 1-2.

A leadoff single would be the only offense this inning for the Eagles as things would move quickly into the 5th.

The top half of the fifth would bring new life to the Javelinas as Rylee Oborski would double to left with one out and eventually score via the Breana Carr double to left tying the game at 2 as we move into the bottom half.

The bottom half would be started off with a hit by pitch and a stolen base putting a runner in scoring position already with nobody out in the inning. A walk followed by an error would load the bases for the Eagles leading to a fielder's choice scoring a run and a steal of home that would make things 4-2 heading to the 6th.

Lindsey Evans was on fire in this one as she doubled down the right field line with one out in the inning, nothing would follow however, and the inning would end Javelinas still trying to close the gap.

A leadoff single and a bunt single would put two on with nobody out before a sac bunt would move the runners into scoring position. A ground out would score a run on the play and a double to right center would get in one more putting it at 6-2 Eagles in front. A triple would follow that and run number 7 would come across before tossing things to the top half and the last call for the Javelinas.

The Javelinas would go three up, three down to end the game and the Eagles would be victorious in both on the day.

The Javelinas look to get back on track next time out as they face the Oklahoma Christian Eagles for their series finale at 12 P.M. CST in Edmond, Oklahoma.
