EDMOND, Texas — Texas A&M-Kingsville Softball Team faced off against the Oklahoma Christian Eagles taking them down 3-1 in the series finale leaving Oklahoma and heading back to Texas with a win.
Things started off with
Breana Carr hitting a one out single to center to be the first hit of the game.
Kayla Gonzales would follow with a walk to put two on with only one out in the inning, two fly outs would end the top half sending things to the bottom of the first.
The Eagles would go down in order to send things to the second quickly, game still scoreless.
The second would start with a
Dakota Martinez walk but that would be the only offense in the top, and the bottom would go three up three down again sending the game to the third.
Seleste Compian would open the top of the third with a bunt single and advance to second on a SAC bunt by
Carr to set things up for
Kayla Gonzales who would knock her in via a single to right center making it Javelinas on top 1-0.
Aaliyah Ortiz would homer to left putting two more on the board for the Javelinas sending things into the bottom of the third up 3-0.
The Javelinas would make quick work once again of the Eagles as they would go three up three down sending it into the fourth.
Kaylynne Ruiz would start the top of the fourth with a single to right but the Javelina offense would fizzle out sending it into the bottom.
The Eagles would see a one out single and two stolen bases to get a runner on third with 2 out in the inning, but no run would cross the plate Javelinas would still lead 3-0.
The fifth inning would be six up six down as both halves would see the Javelinas and Eagles go down in order.
The top of the sixth would get going with a
Lindsey Evans walk but that would be the only production for the Javelinas in the inning.
The bottom half would see a double to left center to lead things off but the Eagles would go down in order after to send things into the 7
th.
The Javelinas would be the ones sat down in order this time as the bottom of the seventh would be the last chance for the Eagles.
A leadoff double to left would start the bottom of the seventh off with a bang as a stolen base would follow putting a runner on third with no outs. A one out single to right field would knock in the runner from third and a single following that would put runner on first and second with only one out. A fly out would advance the runners to second and third with two outs giving the Eagles an opportunity to extend the game, but a fly out would end things with TAMUK on top 3-1.
The Javelinas travel back to Texas and head to Wichita Falls where they will face off against the Midwestern State Mustangs Tuesday April 9
th at 4 & 6 PM and Wednesday April 10
th at 12 PM.
