KINGSVILLE, Texas — Texas A&M-Kingsville Softball Team hosted the UT-Tyler Patriots in the series finale where they would drop the final matchup 7-1.
The Javelinas would start the game out quick sitting down the Patriots in order to send things to the bottom half quickly.
Breana Carr would get a one out single and steal second and would get as far as third before the inning would end, score still zero all heading to the second.
A one out walk and a single up the middle would be the only offense for the Patriots in the top half ending the inning, the game still scoreless as they head to the bottom.
The only hit in the inning would be a
Kaylynne Ruiz one out double to left center, as the game would progress quickly into the third.
The third would see both sides go down in order moving the game right along into the fourth.
The top half would be the same as the third where the Patriots would go down in order to move things into the bottom of the fourth.
Kayla Gonzales would leadoff the inning with a walk and
Aaliyah Ortiz would follow with an RBI double to right center putting the Javelinas up 1-0 heading into the fifth.
The 5
th would see the Patriots get in a groove as a lead off single would be followed by a bunt single and both runners would advance on a throwing error scoring a run tying the ballgame at 1-1. A fielding error would put another runner on putting two on with one out in the inning before a three run home run would break open the inning sending things into the bottom of the 5
th Patriots on top 4-1.
A three up three down inning for the Javelinas would send things quickly into the 6
th inning.
The 6
th would see a walk and a single before three outs would be recorded sending things into the bottom half.
Carr would get yet another single but would be the only offense for the Javelinas as they would still trail 1-4 heading into the top of the 7
th.
A two out three run home run would widen the gap for the Patriots as the score would be 7-1 heading into the final frame.
The inning would start off fast with
Ruiz walking and
Dakota Martinez singling to right center before the momentum would fizzle out and the game would end with the Patriots coming out on top 7-1.
The Javelinas hit the road the next time out taking on the Oklahoma Christian Eagles Friday April 5
th at 3 & 5 PM and Saturday April 6
th at 12 PM.
