Box Score ODESSA, Texas — Texas A&M-Kingsville Softball Team took on the UTPB Falcons in the series finale where they would come out on top 8-7, completing the series sweep.
The game would start off fast just like a day prior as
Breana Carr would get on via a one out single.
Kayla Gonzales would single putting
Carr on third and
Aaliyah Ortiz would hit a sac fly bringing in
Carr making it 1-0 early.
Lindsey Evans would walk, putting
Gonzales on second before
Kaylynne Ruiz would knock a three-run homer sending things to the bottom half Javelinas up 4-0.
UTPB would get nothing going in the bottom half and would send things to the second still down 0-4.
The top of the second would see
Gonzales hit a two-run double scoring
Carr and
Seleste Compian making it 6-0.
Ortiz would hit a two-run homer putting the Javelinas up 8-0 sending things to the bottom half of the second.
The Falcons would respond with a 2-run homer of their own making it a 8-2 ballgame Javelinas still in front.
Nothing doing in the top of the third for the Javelinas as they would head to the bottom half still on top 8-2.
An error and a two-run single would put three across for the Falcons making it an 8-5 ballgame before an RBI single would send things to the top of the fourth Javelinas still on top 8-6.
The Javelinas would only see a walk and a single, and the Falcons would go down in order to send things to the 5
th the score remaining the same 8-6.
The Javelinas would go down in order, but the falcons would get as far as loading the bases before a fly out would send the game into the 6
th inning score still 8-6 Javelinas.
Both squads would go down in order in the 6
th inning sending the game into what could be the final frame 8-6.
A
Dakota Martinez walk would be the only offense for the Javelinas in the 7
th as the Falcons would have one final chance heading to the bottom half of the 7
th.
A leadoff walk and a single to follow would put the Falcons in a prime position before a pop out and error would put runners on second and third with one out in the inning. The final play would see a flyout and a runner being cut down at second to end the game 8-7 Javelinas walking away winners.
The Javelinas return home next time out taking on the UT-Tyler Patriots Thursday March 28
th at 4 & 6 PM and Friday March 29
th at 1 PM.
