Javelinas complete the sweep taking down UTPB 8-7

TAMUK downs Falcons in game three coming home on three game winning streak

Box Score ODESSA, Texas — Texas A&M-Kingsville Softball Team took on the UTPB Falcons in the series finale where they would come out on top 8-7, completing the series sweep.

The game would start off fast just like a day prior as Breana Carr would get on via a one out single. Kayla Gonzales would single putting Carr on third and Aaliyah Ortiz would hit a sac fly bringing in Carr making it 1-0 early. Lindsey Evans would walk, putting Gonzales on second before Kaylynne Ruiz would knock a three-run homer sending things to the bottom half Javelinas up 4-0.

UTPB would get nothing going in the bottom half and would send things to the second still down 0-4.

The top of the second would see Gonzales hit a two-run double scoring Carr and Seleste Compian making it 6-0. Ortiz would hit a two-run homer putting the Javelinas up 8-0 sending things to the bottom half of the second.

The Falcons would respond with a 2-run homer of their own making it a 8-2 ballgame Javelinas still in front.

Nothing doing in the top of the third for the Javelinas as they would head to the bottom half still on top 8-2.

An error and a two-run single would put three across for the Falcons making it an 8-5 ballgame before an RBI single would send things to the top of the fourth Javelinas still on top 8-6.

The Javelinas would only see a walk and a single, and the Falcons would go down in order to send things to the 5th the score remaining the same 8-6.

The Javelinas would go down in order, but the falcons would get as far as loading the bases before a fly out would send the game into the 6th inning score still 8-6 Javelinas.

Both squads would go down in order in the 6th inning sending the game into what could be the final frame 8-6.

A Dakota Martinez walk would be the only offense for the Javelinas in the 7th as the Falcons would have one final chance heading to the bottom half of the 7th.

A leadoff walk and a single to follow would put the Falcons in a prime position before a pop out and error would put runners on second and third with one out in the inning. The final play would see a flyout and a runner being cut down at second to end the game 8-7 Javelinas walking away winners.

The Javelinas return home next time out taking on the UT-Tyler Patriots Thursday March 28th at 4 & 6 PM and Friday March 29th at 1 PM.
