Javelinas take down Tarleton State 4-1 in both doubleheader matchups

TAMUK is “Leaving Stephenville” with two wins against Texans

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Texas A&M-Kingsville Beach Volleyball Team traveled to Stephenville Texas where they would face off against the Texans of Tarleton State taking them down 4-1 in both matchups on the day.

The Javelinas would start off with pair 4 Liana Huesca and Taylor McCarthy who would take down the Texans 21-8 and 21-18 to give the Javelinas an early 1-0 lead.

Flight five would follow right along as Meghan Stiefer and Rylie Anderson would also take down the Texans in two, 21-13 and 21-17 putting the Javelinas lead at 2-0 early in the first matchup.

Pair three would see Olivia Zeigler and Madelyn Wallace getting the win taking set one 21-15 and set two 21-13.

Flight two of Adrienne VanBrunt and Grace Gettys would take set one 21-15 but would go on to drop the next two 21-18 and 15-11 falling to the Texans putting the matchup at 3-1 with one left to finish.

Pair one of Kalani Vasquez and Rylan Pollard would end the day for the Javelinas with a win as they would take set one 22-20 and set one 21-17 finalizing the morning matchup 4-1.
 
The second matchup of the doubleheader saw the Javelinas start off with the fourth flight of Huesca and McCarthy who would open with a 21-15 set one victory then a quick set two 21-12 putting the Javelinas up 1-0.

Pair 5 would see Stiefer and Anderson once again follow suit taking both sets 21-14 and 21-19 going 2-0 on the day as well as putting the Javelinas at 2-0.

The third flight would continue the streak for the Javelinas as Zeigler and Wallace would take down the Texans 21-12 and 21-14 putting the Javelinas at 3-0 for the second match of the day.

Pair number two would go three once again as Gettys and Vanbrunt would take set one 21-15, drop two 22-20 and prevail on the third taking down the Texans 15-11.

The last matchup of the day saw Pollard and Vasquez drop two 18-21 and 19-21 ending the day 4-1 once again for the Javelinas who ultimately would walk away winners of both.

The Javelinas will be back on the road next time out in Salt Lake City where they will take on the likes of Concordia Irvine, Colorado Mesa, and host school Utah at the Utah Invitational. Matches will be Friday March, 29th at 10 AM and 12 PM CST and Saturday March 30th at 10 AM and 2 PM.
