Javelinas split day two of Sun Devil Invitational facing #11 Arizona State and Park University

TAMUK trades sweeps going 0-5 to Sun Devils and 5-0 to Pirates

KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Texas A&M-Kingsville Beach Volleyball Team was back in action on the second day of the Sun Devil Invitational where they would split the day 1-1 going down 0-5 to the #11 Arizona State Sun Devils and sweeping the Park University Pirates.
 
Starting out the day TAMUK faced off against Arizona State where they would fall 0-5.

Starting out with the No. 2 pair of Adrienne VanBrunt and Grace Gettys who finished first dropping set one 11-21 ans set two 9-21.

The No. 4 flight saw Liana Huesca and Taylor McCarthy put up a fight in each set dropping set one 17-21 and set two 18-21.

Court No. 1 saw the combination of Kalani Vasquez and Rylan Pollard  fall 11-21 then 9-21 giving ASU the clinching point on the afternoon.

The No. 5 squad saw Meghan Stiefer and Rylie Anderson drop set one 13-21 and set two 14-21.

Court No. 3 was the last court finished on the match and saw the tandem of Olivia Zeigler and Madelyn Wallace fall 14-21 in set one and 16-21 in set two.
 
The second matchup of the day saw the Javelinas face off against the Park University Pirates where they would come away winners sweeping the match and not needing a third set on any court to do so.

Court No. 2 would start things off seeing the tandem of VanBrunt and Gettys handle both sets 21-13 and 21-15 coming away with the first win of the day.

Next, court No. 4 saw Huesca and McCarthy take down the Pirates 21-16 and 21-14.  

The tandem of Vasquez and Pollard would take over court No. 1, giving the Javelinas the clinching point taking set one 21-16 and set two 21-12.

Court No. 5 would see Stiefer and Anderson take set No. 1 21-12 and set number two 21-13.  

For the last court finished on the day flight no.3 with Zeigler and Wallace would seal the sweeping victory for the Javelinas 21-3 and 21-10 leaving tempe, AZ with a 5-0 sweep.
