KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville Women's Basketball Team prepares for the second matchup between the Javelinas and Patriots as The University of Texas-Tyler comes to the Steinke Physical Education Center on A&I Heritage Night.
The Javelinas (11-13, 7-10 LSC) are heading into Thursdays matchup after taking down the University of Arkansas Fort Smith Lions last time out 78-43. The Javelinas outshot their opponent in almost every category getting the better of them in FG% 44.8% to 25.4% and 3PT% shooting 41.7% to UAFS's 16.7%. Free throws were all tied up as both teams shot 60% from the line, and it would actually be the Lions who got more boards in this one coming down with 43 rebounds to the Javelinas 41.
UT-Tyler (21-5, 15-2 LSC) comes into Thursday on a three-game winning streak, getting the best of the St. Edwards hilltoppers last time out 74-71. This matchup a battle as the categories were split on offense seeing St. Edwards excel from the floor shooting 49.0% compared to the Patriots 44.4%, a different story from long range however as the Patriots shot 34.8% to the Hilltoppers 33.3%. Patriots able to come away with an 81.3% from the charity stripe compared to the Hilltoppers 62.1
