Javelinas prepped to host No.2 West Texas

Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns home and plays host to the No. 2 team in the country  West Texas A&M Sunday at the Steinke Physical Education Center.

After a week off from action, the Javelinas (5-4, 1-2 Lone Star Conference) come back home after five-straight road contests to take on a Buffalo (8-0, 3-0 LSC) team that not only sits atop the conference standing, but the national standings as well.

In their last five matchups in Kingsville, the Javelinas have taken two games off of the Buffaloes. Last time the teams faced off in Kingsville however, West Texas A&M stymied a Javelina comeback attempt to take the win, 71-65.

Sunday's contest will be a good-on-good matchup between the Buffalo offense and the Javelina defense. West Texas A&M currently sits with the best offense in the conference, averaging 92.1 points per game. Texas A&M-Kingsville boasts the eighth best defense in the conference, giving up just under 70 points a game.

This game will also feature two of the most dynamic scorers in the conference. Guard Isaiah Payne currently sits just outside the top-10 in scoring for the LSC with 14.8 points per game. West Texas A&M's Ahmed Mohammed sits atop the conference averaging 20.3 points per game.

Tip-off for Sunday's game is set for 3:00 p.m. CST with the contest being streamed on Flosports. Fans of the Javelinas can follow along via live stats or at JavelinaMBB on Twitter.
