Denver, CO. - Texas A&M-Kignsville embarks on its first road trip of the season as it travels to Metropolitan State University-Denver to take on the Roadrunners on Thursday.
The Javelinas (2-0) look to build off of the momentum it gained in the season-opening victories against South Dakota Mines and Chadron State. The latter ending in dramatic fashion as
Allen Singleton nailed a buzzer-beater to give the Javelinas the win against the Eagles in overtime.
Now, Texas A&M-Kingsville faces a Roadrunner (2-0) team that won 19 games last season under third year head coach Dan Ficke. MSU-Denver has already taken down fellow Lone Star Conference teams in Sul Ross State and UT-Tyler respectively.Â
Depth has been a focal point for the Javelinas this offseason, and the early returns are already showing. Ten Javelinas have played 20 or more minutes, with 14 total players seeing action in just the first two games. One of these key pieces is true freshman
James Livingston, who leads the team averaging 2.5 assists per game while also providing 3.5 points per game and strong defense off the bench.
Another positive factor for the Javelinas has been the front court play. Spearheaded by
Nate Lacewell and
Jordan Henderson, the Javelinas already have the second most team rebounds in the LSC while just playing only two games. Lacewell has also been a multi-faceted offensive force, scoring at all three levels and averaging eight points per game.
Tip-off for Thursday's contest is slated for 8:00 p.m. CST. Fans of the Javelinas can watch on the RMAC athletic network or follow live coverage on live stats or JavelinaMBB on Twitter.
