KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team hits the road for the first time outside of tournament play to take on the Texas A&M-International Dustdevils.
Though International may be a conference opponent, this match will be played as a non-conference matchup, therefore not affecting LSC standings.
The Javelinas (10-3, 2-0 LSC) finding themselves in front of a familiar foe, are entering Wednesday with an impressive six sets to none streak sweeping the Texas A&M International Dustdevils, and the Western New Mexico Mustangs to start out conference play.
Sophomore middle blocker
Jeri Ficklen one to watch as last time out against the Dustdevils put together an impressive nine kill, seven block day, with her hitting % at a .571 for the match. Senior outside hitter
Jackie Alanis another to look for in the match as she had a tremendous performance the last time the Javelinas took the court, posting a hitting percentage of .478, with 11 kills, and three digs against the Mustangs of Western New Mexico.
The Javelinas are coming into the matchup proving to be an all-around squad as they continue to excel as a team in hitting percentage and blocks. The Blue and Gold currently sit at third the LSC in hitting % posting a .244 and fourth in blocks with 107.
Texas A&M-International (8-5, 1-1 LSC) with a little home cooking as they play the Javelinas in the middle of a three-match home stretch before having to hit the road again.
The Dustdevils are hoping to fare differently this time against the Javelinas as they come into the match with a win over the Western New Mexico Mustangs three sets to none.
TAMIU having four players in double digit kills in that match, leads to what should be a good matchup of two very confident teams.
The Javelinas come in to Wednesday's match 16-4 all-time verses the Dustdevils, winning the last time out and splitting the two matchups in the 2022 season.
