PUEBLO, Colo.-Â The Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field program wrapped up competition at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on Saturday, with sophomore
Ja'Qualon Scott posting a trio of impressive performances on the campus of CSU Pueblo. Additionally, the men's team collected a 10th-place finish, boasting 27 total points.

Scott started the day with a blazing fast time of 13.42 in the 110m hurdles, falling only to Cordell Tinch of Pittsburg State en route to second-place. He then battled in the 400m hurdles, using a time of 50.16 to snap the school record and claim his second silver medal of the day.

The day concluded with the men's 4x400m relay team comprised of Scott, junior

Tony Benitez and junior
Michael Samihamba placing seventh at 3:09.19.

A trio of Javelinas competed in field events, including junior
Markim Felix who launched the javelin 65.09m (213-6) on his second attempt to place eighth amongst a talented field that saw five student-athletes surpass 70m.

D.J. Delancy then heaved the shot put 17.31m (56-9.50) on his second try, allowing him to best John Eakin of Slippery Rock and take 12th, guaranteeing him second-team All-American status. Additionally, junior
Katryna Hernandez competed in the women's iteration where she placed 19th at 44-0.50).

Pittsburg State claimed the men's team national championship posting 62 points, with Lone Star Conference member West Texas A&M in second at 47 and Adams State third with 44.

 For the women, Azusa Pacific were the top team with 66 points, while Minnesota State managed 57 for second and WT 49 for third.
