AZUSA, Calif. - Two members of the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's track and field team, Garrett Burns and Cody Fountain, opened competition in the Golden State at the Azusa Pacific Last Chance Meet on Friday evening.
In the discus, junior Burns was unable to improve on his provisional mark of 50.71m in the event from the Lone Star Conference Championships, with his best mark of the meet coming at 47.53m for fourth place overall. Currently, his provisional mark has him ranked 34th in all of Division II in the discus.
Sophomore Cody Fountain took the track one more time in the 800m falling just short of his personal best of 1:50.55, running a 1:50.94 finishing 16th overall in the meet.
The Portland, Texas native's provisional mark of 1:50.55 has him currently with the 28th fastest time in all of Division II.
The Javelinas will resume action in California tomorrow before turning their attention to the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Pueblo, Co. Beginning May 25.
