KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville's softball team fell in its series finale against Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon by a final of, 5-2 in the team's final home game of the regular season.
With the loss, the Javelinas dropped to 22-22, 19-17 LSC on the year and will now prepare for their final two series of the regular season on the road while the Eagles improved their record to 30-14, 25-13 LSC on the season.
Freshman Brylee Bilger opened the scoring for the Javs in the second inning with a two-RBI double as Rylee Oborski and Shelbie Peal came around to score.
Two innings later, OC responded with two runs of its own and threatened to take the lead with runners on second and third.
The Eagles converted on the opportunity with a two-out single down the right field line brining two runs in to score taking a 4-2 advantage.
In the fifth, senior Matiesn Onofrei lead the inning off with a double to left center, but the Javs wee unable to bring her in to score.
OC tacked on an insurance run in the seventh courtesy of a sacrifice fly to center pushing its lead to threes runs at 5-2.
TAMUK was unable to muster a rally in the seventh, dropping its third consecutive game.
The Javelinas will hit the road to face one of the top teams in the nation and LSC leader UT Tyler with the series slated to begin on Tuesday.
