Scott, Dyer, Benitez, and Samihamba see School Records fall on Day Two of Texas Relays

Scott rewrote the record books in the 110m hurdles before helping snap the men's 4x400m relay record

AUSTIN- On Friday, the Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field program saw multiple school records fall as a part of their second day of competition at the 95th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.

Sophomore Ja'Qualon Scott helped make history in multiple events as he ran a smoldering time of 13.56 in the 110m hurdles, surpassing Javelina legend Javier Lopez for the fastest time in program history. Additionally, Scott placed 11th among a talented field that saw 28 run a sub-14 second time.

His day wasn't done, as he joined junior Bryson Dyer, freshman Tony Benitez, and junior Michael Samihamba for the men's 4x400m relay with the squad clocking in at 3:08.48 to set a new school record while running the fastest time in NCAA Division II. The team also was crowned champions of the event's timed finals.

Also in action, sophomore Kennedi Silmon completed the 100m hurdles in 15.17 to top Bailey Golden of Oklahoma State and take 77th, while junior Gabriel Field took on the timed finals of the 110m hurdles, placing 46th in 14.74.

Shortly after, in the 100m dash, freshman Martina Stanchi finished 99th in the women's race with a time of 12.25, with senior Shaun Gill earning 81st in the men's at 10.70.

This concludes the Javelina's trip to The Capital City, as they now focus on the Angelo State Dave Noble Relays, which begin on Wednesday at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
