Javelinas set for three-game series against Falcons

TAMUK looks to snap four-game skid at home

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville softball returns to action this weekend with a three-game home series against UT Permian Basin beginning with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m. 

The Javelinas (14-18, 11-13 LSC) return to Verine and Blanche Hubert Field looking to snap a four-game losing streak that includes a tough road sweep last weekend against No. 20 West Texas A&M. 

TAMUK's offense is still led by sixth-year senior Jory Cervantes who sits in the top-10 of the Lone Star Conference in on base percentage (.459) and batting average (.405), while also posting a team-high 25 runs scored so far this year. 

Cervantes, has also posted team high in fielding percentage with a mark of .983 with only one error and 56 putouts on the campaign. 

The Falcons (6-26, 3-21 LSC) come to Kingsville having dropped nine straight games on the year with the team's last win coming on March 12 with a 7-1 decision against Midwestern State. 

UTPB enters the weekend with the worst team ERA in the LSC at 9.19 and the most errors in the league with 65 so far. 

The Javelinas have also won 10 straight against the Falcons.
