CANYON, Texas – Javelina softball dropped both ends of their twin bill against nationally ranked No. 20 West Texas A&M on Saturday.
WT took game one by a score of 4-1 before run ruling the Javelinas in the second game of the day 8-0 in five innings.
Game 1
WT jumped out to an early lead with two runs coming across in the first inning, with the first run scoring via an RBI single up the middle then an RBI fielder's choice in the subsequent at bat.
TAMUK was unable to get much going offensively for most of the game, till cutting the deficit to one in the fourth after Aaliyah Ortiz delivered a single to bring home Breanna Carr from third after she reached on a dropped third strike. From there, she stole second base and then moved to third on a wild pitch.
The Lady Buffs, added two insurance runs in the sixth pulling off a double steal to bring a run across then an RBI single up the middle pushing the score to 4-1.
Beth Montes (8-7) earned the loss throwing six innings giving up 9 hits and four runs all of which were earned.
Game 2
WT's offense came out red hot in the first inning with a three-run home run in the first inning followed by another two runs courtesy of an error in the second to take a 5-0 lead.
Three more runs in the fourth including another home run from the Lady Buffs pushed the lead to eight, as TAMUK's offense was unable to muster any runs across only tallying three hits for the game which ended after five innings due to the run-rule.
Carissa De Los Santos (4-5) took the loss in the circle going three and a third innings pitched giving up seven runs across seven hits.

The Javelinas now prepare for the series finale against the Lady Buffs tomorrow at noon.
