KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville softball fell in its series finale by a final score of 2-1 against Angelo State on Wednesday afternoon.
The Javelinas (14-15, 11-10 LSC) dropped the final game against the Rambelles after clinching the series win in Tuesday's doubleheader.
TAMUK had an opportunity to rally in the seventh, getting runners to first and second with only one out as one of the team's top hitters in Kayla Gonzales at the plate.
Gonzales, laced a line drive that looked to score at least one run, but ASU's first baseman made an excellent grab as Breanna Carr was doubled up being tagged right in front of the Rambelle who made the grab on the corner.
The Javelinas started the game strong taking the lead in the first as Jory Cervantes scored on a pass ball with the bases loaded taking a 1-0 lead.
ASU pulled even in the third with an RBI single scoring a Rambelle from second just beating the throw from the Javelina outfield.
The Rambelles took the lead in the fifth on a similar similar play with an RBI single down the left line with the runner just getting under a tag at the plate to take a one run lead.
TAMUK's seventh-inning rally fell short on the lineout double play having left eight runners on base throughout the game.
Beth Montes (8-6) picked up the loss in relief for the Javelinas going three innings giving up only two hits and one run which was unearned.
The Blue and Gold now turn their sights to a weekend series on the road against West Texas A&M.
