KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team is set to welcome the Rambelles of Angelo State to Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field on Tuesday and Wednesday for a three-game Lone Star Conference series against Angelo State.
The series will begin on Tuesday with a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. as the Javelinas (12-14, 9-9 LSC) look to bounce back after being swept on the road this past weekend by Cameron.
Sixth year senior Jory Cervantes enters the series with the third highest batting average in the Lone Star Conference batting, .411 with 39 hits in 95 at bats. She has also posted a top 15 on base percentage while also leading TAMUK with 15 total bases.
Beth Montes (7-5) continues to lead the way in the circle for the Javs with the 15th best ERA in the conference with a mark of 2.11 on the season. This comes while leading the team in innings pitched with 73, eight complete games, and three shutouts.
The Rambelles (20-12, 12-9 LSC) come to Kingsville having won their last series at home this past weekend against Eastern New Mexico.
ASU is led offensively by a stacked lineup including Ashton McMillan, BaileyMartinez, Paxton Scheurer, and Ashlyn Lerma who all are hitting above a .300 batting average this season.
Lerma currently has the most stolen bases in all of Division II with 39 this season with a team-best .402 average on the season.
As a pitching staff, the Rambelles have a collective ERA of 2.65 while holding opponents to a batting average of .228.
ASU is 29-5 against TAMUK dating back to 2008, and are 18-2 in Kingsville in that same time period.
