Javelina softball drops two to Cameron in doubleheader

TAMUK falls in two close games to Aggies

LAWTON, Okla. – Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team lost both ends of its doubleheader against Cameron on Saturday.
The Javelinas (12-13, 9-8 LSC) fell, 2-1, and 4-0 on the day but will now look to bounce back in the series finale against the Aggies (14-12, 11-9 LSC) tomorrow at noon.

Game 1

The Blue and Gold continued its trend of early leads, as Aaliyah Ortiz doubled to right center in the first to score Jory Cervantes giving TAMUK the 1-0 lead.

Beth Montes put on a strong performance in the circle, keeping the Aggies off the scoreboard for most of the game.

The Javs had an opportunity to extend their lead in the fourth getting two runners into scoring position with only one out, but were unable to get any runs across.

Cameron, tied the game in the bottom half of the fourth with a an RBI single to left center before taking a 2-1 lead in the fifth with another RBI single to right.

TAMUK was unable to get any more runs across in the next two innings, falling 2-1.

Game 2

The Javelina offense stalled in game two of the day being unable to get any runs across in the game.

Cameron got two runs in the second with a two-run home run. The Aggies, put two more runs up in the fourth inning at 4-0.

The offensive struggles continued for TAMUK getting its last two runners on base for the game in the bottom of the fifth, but were unable to cut into the deficit in the 4-0 loss.
