TYLER, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball dropped its series finale on the road against UT Tyler on Sunday, 4-1.
The loss drops the Javelinas' record to 13-13 on the season and 12-12 in Lone Star Conference play, meanwhile the Patriots improve to 16-8 on the campaign and in the LSC.
TAMUK's only run of the day came in the first as Nick Wolff picked up an RBI single to left scoring Ivan Duarte who doubled earlier in the inning.
The Patriots took the lead back in the third inning finding a two-out, two RBI single through the right side of the infield to take a 2-1 lead.
The Javelina offense ran dry only amassing six hits for the rest of the game, but stellar pitching from Shepard Karson and Marco Martinez kept the game close.
The Pats broke through for two more runs in the eighth via a sacrifice bunt and RBI double to left stretching the lead to 4-1 with Javelinas being unable to find any answers in the ninth.
Karson (1-1) took the loss as the starting pitcher for TAMUK going two and a third innings allowing two runs on one hit while Martinez through five and two-thirds innings allowing two runs on three hits striking out five batters.
The Javelinas return home for a weekend series beginning Friday against Arkansas Fort Smith.
