KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team continues its weekend road trip with the next stop at Oklahoma Christian.
The Javelinas (10-5, 2-1 LSC) come into Saturday after a tough road loss against University of Arkansas Fort Smith three sets to one. The Blue and Gold having suffered their first conference match loss of the season, now turn their focus to Oklahoma
Christian as they aim to get back on track.
After a full eight days without volleyball, TAMUK, now fresh off a match, faces the Oklahoma Christian Eagles. The Eagles, sitting at 8-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play, aim to break even in LSC Play.
Junior middle blocker
Ayanna Jackson continues her impressive performance, contributing 15 kills, five blocks, and recording a .464 hitting percentage.
Meghan Stiefer and
Allison Stachowiak also played key roles, with Stiefer contributing eight kills, two
blocks, and 14 digs, and Stachowiak adding seven kills, one block, and a .235 hitting percentage.
Consistent with their performance, the Javelinas remain in the top five in the Lone Star Conference in both blocks and hitting percentage, ranking fifth for blocks with 125 total and fourth in hitting percentage with .231.
Oklahoma Christian (8-8, 2-3 LSC) is coming off a Monday matchup against the Texas A&M-International Dustdevils where they lost three sets to none.
The Eagles seek improvement after their last match, where they had a team hitting percentage of .073 and only 21 kills. They faced challenges scoring, unable to crack the 20 mark in each set and failing to reach 10 in the third set.
Heading into Saturday's match, the Javelinas hold a 1-2 all-time record against the Eagles. With limited history between the teams, TAMUK is 0-1 at the Payne Athletic Center and 0-1 in neutral site games. Their lone win against the Eagles came in the 2022 season at the Steinke Physical Education Center.
