KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team takes to the road again, this time matching up against the Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps.
The Javelinas (12-6, 4-2 LSC) are going into Friday's match fresh off an upset and a sweep, beating the then number two in the conference DBU three sets to one, and UT-Tyler three sets to none. The Blue and Gold now trying to keep the momentum going as they head out west being on the road where they are 1-3 this season.
The Javelinas lit up the stat sheet Saturday afternoon as Senior outside hitter Jackie Alanis had 10 kills with a .391 hitting percentage, and Junior middle blocker Ayanna Jackson had nine kills with a .500 hitting percentage. The LSC's week 7 Defensive Player of the Week Jeri Ficklen had five total blocks on the day supplementing a Javelina defense that had 14 total on the afternoon.
Lubbock Christian (13-7, 5-5 LSC) comes into Friday after a three sets to one victory against the UTPB Falcons where they hit a .213 as a squad and had 22 blocks total in the match.
The Javelinas and Lady Chaps have met five times to this point, with the Javs holding a 2-3 all-time record. Both squads are undefeated at home against the other as they defend their home court, but have had trouble grabbing a win on the road.
